Storrowton Village Museum Presents Storrowton Saturdays this Summer Season
Ten special, themed days are happening at Storrowton Village Museum this summer. Take a tour, try an activity with a 19th century spin then have a picnic on the green with friends and family. The fun begins on Opening Day, June 15, where visitors can help kick off the official start of Storrowton’s summer tour season. Enjoy FREE admission on this day, then stop by the museum’s first ever Makers Market to meet local artists and shop small. Additional Storrowton Saturday events include:
Garden Day – June 22 from 11-3pm. See the work of the gardeners who care for Aunt Helen’s Herb Garden, gifted to Helen Storrow by the Girl Scouts in 1935. Learn about the plants that played a role in 19th century life and how they’re still used today. Yoga in the Barn from 11-12pm.
Timekeeper Day – June 29 from 11-3pm. Clocks not only measure and tell us the time but they are unique and beautiful creations. See some of the timekeepers from our collections, learn how gears & pulleys make clocks work and listen to the newly restored bells of the Union Meeting House.
Picnic Day – July 6 from 11-3pm. A-tisket a-tasket, bring your picnic basket to Storrowton for Picnic Day! Have lunch on the green then play some old fashioned games or paint a kindness rock. Best picnic set up wins a prize. Who will win Storrowton’s first ever cornhole tournament? It just might be you!
Little House Family Day – July 13 from 11-3pm. Best known for penning the Little House on the Prairie books, Laura Ingalls Wilder’s adventures on the American frontier have captivated children’s imaginations for well over 100 years – whether on the written page or via the popular television series based on her books. Learn about life on the frontier and meet special guests, including Laura Ingalls historical interpreter Rosalie Silliman.
Knit & Crochet Day – July 20 from 11-3pm. Bring a knitted or crocheted hat to donate or your textile tools to make one while you’re here. Learn the basics of knitting or crocheting, how to drop spindle with found objects, and bring a project to show off your skills!
Mindfulness Day – July 27 from 11-3pm. Unplug for part of your day and join us as we raise awareness about the benefit mindfulness can bring to everyone. Try the plant-a-seed activity, join a walking meditation tour through the Village, or take a mindfulness workshop at 2pm. Yoga in the Barn from 11-12pm.
Game Day – August 3 from 11-3pm. What did fun look like in a tech-free world? This play-inspired day focuses on what families did when the school day was over and all the chores were done. Try games of all kinds, inside, outside and even learn how to make up your own!
Invention Day – August 10 from 11-3pm. So many things we use today were created in the 19th century! This STEM-inspired day looks at what they are, how they were made and even some of the young inventors who came up with the ideas. Engage problem-solving and teamwork skills in new and exciting ways, like boat races and a marshmallow catapult contest.
Equine Day – August 17 from 11-3pm. This day celebrates all things horses, those wonderful animals that gallop and neigh their way into our hearts and imaginations. Hear about the role horses played in New England, visit the blacksmith shop to see how horseshoes are made, and maybe even meet a new four-legged friend! Yoga in the Barn from 11-12pm.
Tickets to each event, with the exception of Opening Day on June 15, are $8 online or $10 in the Gift Shop on Saturdays. For more details, visit storrowtonvillage.com or call 413-205-5051.
