Zip One Book Symposium at the Agawam Public Library

October 16, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Zip One Book Symposium will be held at the Agawam Library on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the library’s Community Room. This season’s book title is Beartown by best-selling author Fredrik Backman.

At its core, Beartown is a story about a one-high school town, much like our own. In such a community, the health of the high school is crucial to the health of the whole town and vice versa. This story is told through the experience of Beartown’s hockey team- a winning team with big dreams. As the reader learns, the themes that resonate within the heart and soul of this fictional community could have been meaningfully told through any of the many sports or activities that are important to the high school. Small town hopes and dreams collide with real-life consequences and creates a soul-searching read in Beartown.

The Zip One Book Symposium is a community group that began three years ago as a community-wide book discussion group. Participants have the opportunity to share their impressions of the selected book. Readers may also come and listen to the comments.

Please join us on Tuesday, October 16th at 7:00 p.m. for the Zip One Book Symposium. Books are now available at the Main Desk. Registration is open now. Please call 789-1550 X8851 with questions or to register.
