SUMMARY:Westfield State University to host Interfaith Campus Ministry Summit
DESCRIPTION:The Albert and Amelia Ferst Interfaith Center is collaborating with the Diocese of Springfield’s Campus Outreach and the Chaplains’ Council of Westfield State University to host the Center’s second annual Interfaith Campus Ministry Summit on Wednesday\, January 9. The day-long event will be held in the campus’ Ely Hall. \n  \nThe January 9 event follows the Center’s inaugural Interfaith Summit held in spring 2019. The “Soul Shop Workshop on Suicide Awareness and Prevention” aims to equip faith communities to minister to people impacted by suicidal desperation including those either engaged in or recovered from suicidal thinking\, individuals concerned about someone who may be suicidal\, or those who have lost someone to suicide. \n  \nDesigned for clergy\, campus ministers\, chaplains\, advisors\, and youth leaders\, the all-day training will provide inspirational and practical tools to help guide individuals impacted by suicidal desperation. \n  \nFather Warren Savage\, the director of the Ferst Interfaith Center\, stressed the Summit’s timeliness and relevance\, given that suicide is the second-leading cause of death among 15 to 34-year-olds and the tenth leading cause of death for all ages in the United States. \n  \nThe January 9 event will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. A $23 registration fee includes lunch. Parking will be available on campus. To register\, visit https://diospringfield.weshareonline.org/ws/opportunities/workshop_1-9-20/attend \n  \nThe Interfaith Albert and Amelia Ferst Interfaith Center first opened in 1982\, following the work of community leaders who formed the Westfield State Foundation. The Foundation has since supported the Center and its founding mission to continue to welcome all.

SUMMARY:Events at the Westfield Athenaeum
DESCRIPTION:During the month of January the Westfield Athenaeum presents the work of Roger Duffy and his show “Just Ink”. The Artist’s philosophy is: “Art has many forms\, from abstract to surreal\, impressionism to realism. Many want to convey what they feel or what they see\, or even what they think. I try to depict the grandeur of the world we live in\, because in this modern day the world seems smaller and we seem greater by our technology that is right in hand. We seldom step back and see the vastness of our created world and the awe of what is before us every day.” The works of Roger Duffy will be on display in the Jasper Rand Art Gallery Monday-Thursday 8:30-8:00 and Friday and Saturday 8:30-5:00. Please visit us at www.westath.org or call 413-568-7833 for more information. \n  \n“Messages from the Other Side” at the Westfield Athenaeum\, January 15 at 6:30pm. We welcome Lisa Lanno\, Psychic and Medium (and she will explain the difference). Lisa is also a Paranormal Researcher\, Handwriting Analyst and Ghosthunter. Join us as she talks about her fascinating career and gives random readings to audience members. Space is limited and first come first served. Seating begins at 6:00 pm\, please arrive early!
