In order to provide accurate information on changing health plans for continued coverage at Baystate Noble Hospital\, should participants choose to do so\, representatives from both Health New England and Tufts will be at the Westfield Senior Center\, 45 Noble Street\, on Tuesday\, December 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. No appointments are necessary to speak with a representative.

Students in 7th-12th grade\, meet up from 2:30-3:30 at the Southwick Public Library on Wednesday\, December 12th. \nSouthwick Public Library Teen Winter Reading Program Start—Cozy up by the fire with a good book this winter\, and get raffle tickets for a chance to win a prize! The Winter Reading Program works like this – for each hour you read (maximum of 5 hours per week)\, you can get an entry to put in for your choice of three prizes. You can enter your hours read by filling out a raffle ticket at the library OR by filling out the Google Form available on our website\, Facebook page\, and Teen Blog (if you enter hours online\, you will be asked to note which prize you want your raffle entries for). Prizes will be raffled off at the end of the program. You can enter hours in beginning December 17th\, and the last day to enter hours in is by 5pm on January 18th. DESCRIPTION:“Breakfast and Photos with Santa Claus” will be held at the Southwick Rec Center\, 64 Powder Mill Road\, in Southwick on Sunday December 2nd from 8:00 AM until 12 Noon. The buffet breakfast will feature pancakes\, scrambled eggs\, ham\, sausage\, orange juice\, coffee\, tea\, and milk. Prizes will be raffled throughout the morning and Santa Claus will be available for photos. The cost for breakfast is $8.00 per adult and $5.00 for children under 12. Proceeds will be used to support the Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund and the Southwick Recreation Center. \nPast donations received by the Southwick Lions Club have been returned to the community in the form of scholarships\, aid due to financial constraints to those in need of glasses or hearing aids\, and financing research for sight\, hearing\, and diabetes. Funding has also been provided to the local food pantry\, schools\, police department\, fire department\, our veterans\, and other community resources. \nThe Southwick Lions Club has 54 members and meets on the 1st Thursday of each month at Tucker’s Restaurant at 7:00 PM. Lions clubs are a group of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs. Helen Keller challenged the Lions Club to be the knights of the blind and deaf. Best known for their efforts to eradicate preventable blindness Lions Clubs assist those in need\, provide clean drinking water\, and assist in diabetes research. New members are welcome. DESCRIPTION:ArtWorks of Westfield\, Inc.\, a Westfield-based\, non-profit\, all volunteer organization promoting and supporting the arts and culture in Westfield\, is inviting local artists to display their work at two different December art shows taking place in the city. IMAGES: A Holiday Fine Art Show will take place on Friday December 7th and Saturday December 8th at St. John’s Lutheran Church\, located at 60 Broad Street in Westfield. An Images of Westfield art show heritage presentation that began in 2016\, IMAGES will feature the work of up to thirty local and region artists. \nMedia accepted for the show includes painting\, drawing\, photography\, sculpture\, pottery and mixed media. Artists interested in participating in the show should submit three representative samples of their work in jpeg format to the selection committee at artworkswestfield@gmail.com. Submissions should also include the artist name\, email\, phone\, medium and title of each piece. There is no fee to submit samples for this show. Deadline to apply is December 1\, 2018. Notice of acceptance into the show will be released no later than December 3\, 2018. \nDisplay space at the show is one side of a 4’x6’ display panel. Table top display space will also be available. DESCRIPTION:From Monday\, November 19 through Wednesday\, November 21\, high school students have the opportunity to participate in a series of workshops relating to college. Monday of College Week includes a workshop for grades 9-12 in the Career Center called “Work & College: Before\, During and After” offered by regional economic development director Jeanne LeClair. Seniors will have several workshop options on Monday including Common College Application Support\, Instant Admissions to Western New England University and Bath Path University\, and a Scholarship Workshop. \nCollege Week continues on Tuesday with Instant Admissions to American International College\, Holyoke Community College\, and Springfield Technical Community College for seniors. All high school students may participate in an information session from Asnuntuck Community College and Mock Interviews (for jobs or college) led by Assistant Principal Deanna LeBlanc. Tuesday culminates with a school-wide College Application Celebration Assembly in the Gateway Performing Arts Center\, where seniors who have completed at least one college application (before Thanksgiving!) will be celebrated and those accepted this week via instant admissions will be announced. \nOn Wednesday\, the half-day before Thanksgiving\, all students and staff are invited to wear college or military apparel. Students will receive spirit points for their class (as part of the annual competition for the end-of-year Spirit Trophy). An Alumni College Panel will be convened and will host a Q & A session with each class throughout that morning. Gateway alumni who are willing to serve on the panel should call 685-1107. \nOn Wednesday\, November 28\, Gateway seniors and their parents/guardians are invited to a financial aid workshop hosted by the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority (MEFA). Completing the FAFSA application for college financial aid will be covered. Workshops are optional and students can sign up in the guidance office if they choose to attend.
