The demonstrator for this meeting will be Kimberly Caruso-Poley. Kim will be demonstrating the art of making fused glass. Creating fused glass pieces are but one of Kim’s many talents. As a mixed media artist\, Kim recycles different materials such as paper\, clay\, dryer sheets\, exotic papers\, and Styrofoam. She experiments with these materials to get different effects when creating a mixed media canvas. Apple\, pumpkin\, and tomato mincemeat (homemade) pies will be available. \nThe sale is being organized and led by Morgan O’Connor\, an Ambassador Girl Scout from Westfield Troop 40222\, to support her Girl Scout Gold Award project\, which includes purchasing new water fountains for Westfield Technical Academy. The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest honor that can be earned in Girl Scouting. Morgan’s project involves sharing information about the health benefits of water and about the detrimental impact of disposable water bottles. The new water fountains will have improved filtering and provide a water bottle re-filling feature. \nPie orders will be taken until November 11th\, and frozen pies will be ready for pick up on November 18 from noon to 1 p.m. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church on Holyoke Rd. SUMMARY:Red Cross Blood Drive at Gateway
DESCRIPTION:The Red Cross Club at Gateway Regional High School will hold a Blood Drive in the Gateway High school gymnasium on Tuesday\, November 6 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.\, where students\, staff and community members can donate their blood for a great cause. Students aged 16 may donate\, but must get a parent’s consent; donors 17 years or older do not need consent. The Red Cross Club will be giving T-shirts to donors at Gateway’s Blood Drive\, while supplies last. Sign-ups will be held in the cafeteria during lunch. You may also call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code GRHS 12 to schedule an appointment. Drop-ins are also welcome. \nBlood and plasma are routinely needed to replace blood lost due to traumatic injuries\, burns and/or surgical procedures. There are also many chronic medical conditions\, such as cancer\, lymphoma and sickle cell disease\, which require transfusions. One pint of blood can save up to three lives. Giving blood not only saves lives\, but qualifies our Red Cross Club members for scholarship money. Visit RedCrossBlood.org to learn more about giving blood. You may also save time by using the RapidPass (on that website) to complete required reading and health history questions on the day of your appointment. The upcoming blood drive at Gateway is the perfect opportunity to help others. This will be the first drive of the year.

DESCRIPTION:Holy Trinity Church\, 335 Elm St.\, Westfield\, is again having their annual Gift Card Fundraiser to help with winter fuel expenses. Gift cards are great for anniversaries\, birthdays and other special occasions. They are great for relatives\, friends\, coaches\, employees and co-workers. They work great for online shopping (no credit card info is needed; helps prevent identity theft) and your own daily shopping and dining. Gift cards also work great for raffle prize donations and for charity events. \nPlease buy your gift cards from Holy Trinity Church. These gift cards are the same ones you buy at restaurants and stores and there are no expiration dates. Gift card wrappers are also available. American Express\, Discover and VISA gift cards are available with no activation fees. There are over 100 area stores and restaurants to choose from on our order form. However\, gift cards can be purchased for stores and restaurants across the United States and for different airlines\, hotels\, cruise lines\, rental car agencies\, gas stations\, etc. If a gift card you want is not on the order form\, please call or email me because I can order it if it is available. \nOrder forms can be picked up in the Church or at the Parish Office. Order forms can also be mailed or emailed to you upon request. It’s easy. Fill out an order form and return it with cash or a check made payable to Holy Trinity Church. Return order forms in the collection basket during the weekend Masses\, to the Parish Office\, or through the Office mail slot if the Office is closed. First order goes in November 5\, 2018 and the second order goes in December 3\, 2018. Orders and payment must be received by these dates.
