DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday\, December 31\, from 4 to 7 p.m.\, the Southwick 250 Committee invites the public to come and enjoy the many First Night activities offered\, including s’mores\, crafts\, a kid’s parade\, the Southwick High School Chorus\, a small fireworks display and much more. The winners of the “Light Up Southwick” contest will also be announced at First Night along with an acknowledgement of the Sponsors. The festivities will be held at the Woodland School and the Woodland Recreation Center. \n  \nFamilies with children under 13 will enjoy a movie\, crafts\, face painting and hula hooping at the Woodland School. Parents are requested to remain with their children to enjoy the activities with them. For those 13 and older\, there is a game corner\, henna body art\, a selfie station\, dance music and more at the Southwick Recreation Center. There will be more activities outside\, as well as food trucks with hot food available for purchase. \n  \nBefore December 30\, The Committee is asking people to drop off clean 2 liter bottles at the Southwick Town Hall or the Southwick library for use in crafts. Schools will be closed December 23 through January 1\, with classes resuming Thursday\, January 2. Littleville Elementary Wrap Around will be open 12/23\, 12/26\, 12/27\, and 12/30\, and they will be closed for Christmas Eve\, Christmas Day\, New Year’s Eve\, and New Year’s Day. \n  \nThis last week before the break is also Spirit Week at the high school\, culminating in the annual Reindeer Games competitions between the grade levels\, a very festive and friendly competitive event that students always look forward to. Students were encouraged to wear all white on Monday\, ugly sweaters on Tuesday\, candy cane colors on Wednesday\, pajamas on Thursday\, and their class shirts on Friday for Reindeer Games to earn points for their class. DESCRIPTION:Westfield State University will host the first completion ceremony for the inaugural cohort of the Physician Assistant Studies (PAS) program at Scanlon Banquet Hall\, 577 Western Ave\, Westfield. The University launched the first public Physician Assistant Studies program in New England in January 2018. Twenty-two students will be recognized at the December 18 event at 5 pm. The Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies is an intensive\, 24-month program. According to Jennifer Hixon\, DHSc\, founding director of the PAS program\, it intends to educate a diverse student body of highly skilled and culturally aware healthcare providers who will utilize a patient-centered care approach and be committed to serving the public in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and beyond.

It is $5 to play (pay once\, play for the whole event) and free to enter and spectate as students play games such as Mario Kart\, Rocket League\, Super Smash Brothers\, and Just Dance. This event is open to all age groups and brings kids together to have fun. Elementary students should have a parent or guardian present at the event. The funds raised from this event will all go to the Enterprise Club to fund more fun events this year and support young entrepreneurs learning about small business. DESCRIPTION:Applications are now available for the Huntington Senior and Veteran Property Tax Work-Off Programs for Fiscal Year 2021. Huntington property owners at least 60 years old\, and/or U.S. military veterans\, may volunteer up to 40 hours of time to the Town of Huntington to receive a maximum $500 on their real estate tax bills. DESCRIPTION:Woronoco Heights Outdoor Adventures (WHOA!) is adding holiday fun to the already extensive offering of seasonal activities in the December edition of monthly seasonal activities at the Horace Moses Scout Reservation in Russell on Saturday December 7 from 9 am to 3 pm. \n  \nEach month WHOA! presents activities taking advantage of the Scout reservation’s facilities on1300 acres\, just 20 minutes from I-90 Exit 3.Many activities are open to children as young as 5 years old. Families will find outdoor programs as well as fun activities indoors with all the equipment provided. \n  \nWith the holidays coming there will be a program area where Christmas and holiday decorations can be made along with cookie decorating and baking. Those looking to try making something different can visit the blacksmith shop for a simple project. \n  \nJust for fun and to try something different WHOA! offers both indoor and outdoor activities. Indoors is ham radio\, photography lessons\, and escape rooms. Outdoors in December\, with equipment provided\, will be orienteering\, mountain bikes\, disc golf\, geocaching\, ecology\, and for those over 10 years tomahawk throwing. \n  \nThe entire day is $15 per person\, with youth 5 to 9 years $10. Groups of 10 or more are discounted at $10 per person. Pre-registration is appreciated but not required on-line at tinyurl.com/WHOA1207. \n  \nEach program is available from 9 am until 3 pm and subject to change\, especially due to weather conditions. Some programs require signing up for a specific time period. Participants may arrive/leave at any time. DESCRIPTION:Senior citizens from all the Gateway Hilltown communities are invited to attend the annual free Senior Citizen Brunch & Concert on December 4. The event is a great opportunity for seniors in the community to learn more about Gateway and chat with students\, as well as enjoy delicious food and great music. The excellent high school band and choir will perform several selections that they are sure everyone will enjoy. RSVPs are requested to your local Council on Aging\, but all senior citizens guests who arrive on Wednesday will be welcome to participate. Students from the Gateway National Honor Society have volunteered to serve as hosts and wait staff. Gateway expects around a hundred seniors to attend the event at Gateway High School\, 12 Littleville Road in Huntington. The doors will open at 9:15 a.m. to receive guests\, with brunch served in the cafeteria at 9:30 a.m.\, and the concert beginning in the auditorium at 10:30am\, ending at noon.
