WESTFIELD – A fire occurred on 124 Cabot Rd. at approximately 1:21 a.m. this morning. Upon arrival, firefighters located the fire in the wood boiler area and garage of the home.
Members of the Westfield Fire Department were able to knock down the fire from a trap door in the bedroom closet.
According to Westfield Deputy Fire Chief Eric Bishop, there was major damage to the garage. Firefighters were able to keep the fire from extending inside the home but there was still some smoke damage in the house.
The family living in the house didn’t face any injuries.
Two firefighters faced some injuries during the suppression efforts.
