WESTFIELD—A fire over the weekend in the city displaced two residents, according to the Westfield Fire Department.
Westfield Fire Deputy Chief Mark Devine said that the fire occurred on Klondike Avenue in a trailer park Saturday afternoon around 2:42 p.m. Two people were displaced from the fire but no injuries were reported.
Devine said that the American Red Cross provided shelter for the two residents following the fire.
According to Devine, both residents were out of the trailer before the fire department showed up and no pets were reportedly injured or deceased, either. According to Westfield Police, a neighbor called 911 to report the fire.
The cause of the fire, according to Devine, was related to wiring going to a junction box attached to the trailer. He said that the underside of the trailer was what caught fire.
The damages were estimated to cost about $6,000.
