WESTFIELD – Francis “Frank” H. Black Jr., 73, of Westfield, MA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 1st. Born in Springfield, he attended Springfield Trade School.
He is leaving behind his son, Robert Black and daughter Roxanne Black of Westfield, and his son Dwayne Black of West Springfield, his wife Theresa (Taudel) Black, and her three daughters, Janice Mayberry, and Veronica Mayberry both of Westfield and Vanessa Anamisis of Salem, NH. He was predeceased by his step son, Joseph Mayberry. He also leaves eleven grandchildren who will miss him dearly and a sister, Elvira Otto of Palmer and a brother, Walter Black of Hampden and several nieces and nephews.
Frank was a local business owner and operator since 1976. He was the man to see for your car radio, or other electronics. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, traveling, and loved animals. He was your average Dr. Dolittle. He also was one of the first HAM radio operators, and continued to carry the Amateur Radio License. Frank was a veteran of the US Air Force, a member of American Legion Post 124 of Westfield and the Westfield Slovak Club. He enjoyed going to swap meets and car shows to show off his beautiful, 56 Chevy Bel-Air. Frank was a beloved husband, wonderful father and grandfather, and a friend to many. He touched the lives of many, and will be greatly missed.
A service for Frank will be held, Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Calling hours will be Sunday, May 5, 2013 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St. Westfield.
