WESTFIELD – Francisca “Panchita” (Lopez) Luna, 85 (1932—2018), of Westfield, died Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Baystate Medical Center. She was born in Cidra, Puerto Rico on April 16, 1932 to the late Enrique and Francisca (Rivera) Lopez and raised in Cayey, Puerto Rico. She was a housekeeper for the Governors House Nursing Home for 15 years and retired in 1994. She was also a housekeeper for 3 years at the St. Mary’s Rectory. Panchita was also the co-founder of the Spanish Way of the Cross procession on Good Friday. She was a member of the Schoenstatt Movement, was a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the prayer group at St. Mary’s Church and a member of the woman’s Sacred Heart League. Panchita was pre-deceased by her husband Emilio Luna in 1990. She leaves her children Efrain “Freddy” Luna, David Luna, Irma Luna-Cartagena and Elena Ocasio all of Westfield, her sister Maria Otero of Westfield, 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her sisters Santiaga Matos and Benita Lopez-Rivera.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 24th at 9:30 am from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield followed by A Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church at 10:30. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
