WESTFIELD; Fred Horak, 90, of Westfield died Friday in a local nursing home. He was born in Chicopee on December 16, 1924 the son of the late Frank and Mary (Berkowski) Horak and was a graduate of the former Chicopee Trade School. Fred was a Navy veteran of WWII, serving in the Atlantic and the Pacific. He was employed as a machinist at Package Machinery for forty-five years, retiring in 1985. Fred was a member of the Second Congregational Church of Westfield. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-five years, Lois (Hall) Horak, a son, David of Vass, NC, a brother Michael of Chicopee, two sisters, Thelma Derochick of Thompsonville, CT, and Helen Kulig of Chicopee. Fred also leaves four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Ann-Marie LaBonte in 1998. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service to be held on Thursday at 10:30am at the U.C.C. Second Congregational Church, 487 Western Ave, Westfield.
