WESTFIELD – Westfield musician, singer and piano teacher Isabel Marcheselli will be performing a free Classical Piano Recital Concert and Christmas Sing in the Westfield Athenaeum’s Lang Auditorium on Thursday, Dec. 6 at 1 p.m.
Marcheselli will be performing sonatas by classical Austrian composer, Franz Joseph Haydn (1732-1809), and afterwards will move to guitar and invite concert-goers to join in a festive community singing of Christmas classics. “We’re also going to hand out percussion instruments. I would like them to feel they are part of the ensemble,” she said.
This is Isabel Marcheselli’s third appearance in the First Thursdays Concert Series for the library, although during the renovations, she performed the concert at the Westfield Senior Center. “I’m very excited to be at their grand piano again. I would love to bring visitors into a very joyful and relaxing mood that will get them ready for the holidays. One of my goals is to bring the true magic of Christmas. We can be so busy during this time,” she said.
Originally from New York, Marcheselli earned her degree from Cornell University, and pursued musical studies at Mannes College of Music and Hunter College. Among her piano teachers is Xiayin Wang, celebrated concert pianist, and Edel Sanders, classical vocalist.
Marcheselli has performed throughout the Northeast with a band, and as a solo artist. Venues where she has performed include Columbia University, Cornell University, the Basilica of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, the Westfield Athenaeum and many more venues, drawing fans and praise for her performances full of beauty, style, and soul.
Marcheselli also taught piano for five years at the Greater Westfield YMCA, and now teaches privately in Westfield. She also serves as a music minister for the Archdiocese of Springfield.
“Start your holiday season with a delightful mix of classical and contemporary holiday inspired music and then join Isabel as she leads us in a sing-a-long of music to uplift your spirit,” said Joyce Peregrin, Outreach and Public Services Librarian at the Westfield Athenaeum about Thursday’s concert.
