Glenn J. Dickinson

GRANVILLE: flagGlenn J. Dickinson, 91, of Granville died Saturday July 11, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Westfield on June 17, 1924 the son of the late Joseph and Edith (Anderson) Dickinson. Glenn was a Navy veteran of WWII aboard TheUSS Leon. He was the owner of Glenn J. Dickinson Excavating and Trucking for sixty-five years. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Elaine (Maceyka) Dickinson, two daughters, Joanne “Jan” Dickinson of Westfield, Judy Dickinson-Zering and (son) James of Granville and his sister, Muriel Leslie of Westfield. Glenn also leaves his five loving granddaughters, Candy Goyette and husband Paul, Starr Hockenberry and husband Eric, Kara Dziengelewski and boyfriend Dave Marchesi, Danielle Zering, and Alexandra Zering, and four great-grandchildren, Sydney, Parker, Chad and Brooke. Since 1960 he played cards for the Granville team of the Grange Set Back League. Glenn enjoyed riding and racing Ski-Doo’s and was a Ski-Doo dealer for 25 years. In 1972 he built, constructed and maintained the nationally known Motocross 338 race track in Southwick, MA. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 872 and The American Legion Post 338 along with being a member of MotoCross 338.He also enjoyed spending time at their second home on Otis Reservoir and loved every minute spent with family and friends. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed.His funeral will be held on Thursday at 11am at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St., Westfield. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Silver St. Cemetery in Granville. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home from 4pm until 7pm.
