Gateway Foundation reaches goal on “Valley Gives” Day

HUNTINGTON – The Gateway Education Foundation received $4,650 in donations in the month of December; $3,425 of this came in online giving donations on 12/12/12.
The foundation also received a $200 cash donation, a $500 on-line donation leading up to Valley Gives Day, and received $525 in checks donated to the Shipman Fund, in memory of retired teacher and Tech Crew Director Rob Shipman.
The following day, the foundation’s Board of Directors voted on funding for three approved projects from the foundation’s Funds for Learning Program.
“We did very well for a relatively new organization,” said Wendy Long, the foundation’s clerk. “The following day, I had the happy task of notifying staff that their projects would receive funding! It was definitely the best day of my work year!”
Collectively, both staff and community members each donated over $500, earning the Gateway Education Foundation $1,000 from 2 challenge grants issued by anonymous donors. The grantors made their donations online during Valley Gives Day, as well.
Parents, staff, alumni and community members can make donations to the Gateway Education Foundation at any time of the year. Checks made payable to the Gateway Education Foundation can be mailed to 12 Littleville Rd., Huntington, MA 01050. Online donations will continue to be accepted on the GEF website (gatewayeducationfoundation.yolasite.com) using the online donation widget. All donations are tax deductible.
