WEST SPRINGFIELD – George Joseph C’Miel, Jr., 75, (1948-2024) of Greystone Avenue, passed away Wednesday at home. He was born in New York City on February 22nd, 1948 to the late Mary (Grigalunaus) and George C’Miel, Sr. He grew up in Westfield and settled in West Springfield in 1976, where he would live the rest of his life. He earned an Engineering Degree from the University of Massachusetts, where he was a proud member of Phi Sigma Kappa and later received his Master’s in Engineering from Western New England University. He owned A-Dapt Engineering and worked as an Engineer in manufacturing for Spaulding, GE, and Advanced Precision. He was formerly a communicant of St. Thomas Church. He was an avid golfer, but spending time with his grandchildren was his great joy in life. He spent a lot of time down in Boca Raton, FL over the last decade. He loved golfing and socializing with his friends there. He was an ardent supporter of our armed forces, especially the Marines, which his brother Gregory was a part of. He was an avid reader.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carol (Glista) C’Miel in 2005. He was the loving father of Jason C’Miel and his wife Kerri of West Springfield and Craig C’Miel and his wife Amy of Auburn, MA, devoted grandfather of Charles and Cameron C’Miel and Cooper and Lily-Ann C’Miel, caring brother of Mary Garvey of Ft. Orange, FL and Michelle Stoll of Orford, NH, and he also leaves several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his two brothers Michael and Gregory C’Miel.
The calling hours will be Monday from 4-6 p.m. at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield. There will be a Funeral Home Service Tuesday at 10 a.m. followed by a burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Westfield.
