Westfield – George J. Varosky, 79, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Aliquippa, PA to the late George and Anna (Ilov) Varosky. He served in the US Army, being honorably discharged at a rank of E-4 and later worked as a regional sales manager for 41 years with the 3M Company. George loved golf, was a member at Shaker Farms Country Club, and played in numerous leagues. Other favorite hobbies included flying airplanes, fishing, and playing cribbage at the Slovak Hall. He was a communicant of St. Peters & St. Casmir’s Parish, a Eucharistic minister and member of the church council, and assisted with many other parish activities. He was also a fourth degree Knight of Columbus. George is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Carolyn Sue (Hollingsworth) Varosky, his loving children Liana S. Varosky of South Hadley, MA and Geoffrey J. Varosky and wife Emely of North Attleboro, MA; his sister Mary Ann Jacobsen and husband Jack of Houston, TX; his brothers John Varosky and wife Nancy of Charlotte, NC and Edward Varosky and wife Ann of Houston, TX; and his cherished grandchildren Lucas and Eva Varosky. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 8, from 4 to 7 PM at Firtion-Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad St., Westfield, MA. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 9, at 10 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass at 11 AM at St. Peters & St. Casmir’s Parish, 22 State St., Westfield. www.firtionadams.com.
