Harold “Snook” Steward

Southwick – Harold “Snook” Lee Steward, 78, (1939 – 2018) passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on March 28, 2018.  He was born in Rumford, ME to the late Eugene and Albina (Mahar) Steward.  Snook was a 1958 graduate of Westfield Trade High.  He enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served during the Viet Nam War. Snook started his working career as a machinist for Kaman Aircraft; he later ran his own roofing and rug cleaning businesses and finally retired from Eastern Snacks as a Route Vendor.  Snook had a passion for Revolutionary War and Civil War History which led him to be a an active member of Spirit 76 Fife & Drum, 2nd Hampshire Regiment, 40th Georgia Artillery and the 4th Virginia Infantry.  Most of all he was a hardworking devoted family man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.  He leaves his loving wife of 50 years, Sandra (Beach) Steward; his daughters, Kellie Manzi and her husband Richard of Agawam; Krista Stoops and her fiancé Roger Tetreault and his son Matthew Tetreault of Westfield; his grandchildren, Devyn and Arianna Manzi, and Eden Stoops; a brother, Eugene Steward and his wife Ginny of Southwick; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Snook was predeceased by his brother, Philip Milligan who passed in 2016. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Wednesday, April 4th at 10AM in New Cemetery, 354 College Highway, Southwick.  All are also invited to celebrate Snook’s life at Sons of Erin,22 William St, Westfield on Sunday, April 8th from 2-5PM.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southwick Animal Shelter,www.animalshelter.org/donate.asp; Homeless Cat Project,1124 East Mountain Road, Westfield, MA 01085; or Shelter of your choice.  For more information please visit: www.forastiere.com.
