WESTFIELD – Helen J. (Kondrat) Petros, 86, a lifelong resident of Westfield, died Sunday, December 16, 2012 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Westfield on September 26, 1926 to the late Frank and Margaret (Margelony) Kondrat.
Helen attended local schools and worked at Old Colony Envelope Co. and was also a 30 year employee of Greif Brothers in Westfield, where she retired in 1996. She was a parishioner of St. Peter’s and St. Casimir’s Parish. Among Helen’s personal interests was her love for her family and gardening. She was frequently complimented for her beautiful flowers. Those who knew her know how hard working, generous, and selfless she was. She never said no to anyone who needed her help.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, John in 1968. She leaves her daughters, Helen “Peggy” Maynard, and Barbara Popko and her husband Richard all of Westfield; her grandchildren, John Maynard and his wife Jennifer of Huntington, Lisa Baldwin and her husband John of Oakdale, CT, Kelly Popko of Westfield, Michael Popko and his wife Chelsea of Westfield; her great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jacob, Hanna, Jack, and Emma. Helen leaves her brother, Charles Kondrat and her sister, Anna Kondrat both of Westfield, and her sister-in-law, Lois Kondrat of Russell and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, John, Peter, Frank Kondrat Jr., Catherine Nazario, and Mary Cooper.
The funeral for Helen will be Thursday, December 20th at 9:00 a.m. from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Peter’s Church, 22 State Street at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home from 3:00-7:00 p.m.
