GRANVILLE – The high winds that occurred throughout Western Massachusetts Thursday caused issues in one community. As early as 7 a.m. on Thursday, the Granville Police Department received reports from residents that power lines and trees were down all throughout town.
According to Lt. Rick Rindels, there was only one report of a home on Route 57 that had a tree fall in their front yard and took down their power lines and cables. The house did not get affected and there were no injuries.
Rindels says that the amount of power lines and trees that were down around Granville was above the normal.
“We haven’t had this much damage in a few years,” said Rindels.
Once there were reports of damage, Eversource, the town’s electric company, came to the aid. Eversource spent the day putting up new poles and stringing together new wires.
Rindels said that Silver St. was getting a lot of attention, but the majority of the issues were fixed.
“We’re in pretty good shape,” said Rindels.
