Hilltown plow driver charged with OUI

HUNTINGTON (AP) — A western Massachusetts snowplow driver has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs after a collision that injured two people riding an all-terrain vehicle.
State police responded to Route 122 in Huntington at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
There they found that a pickup truck with a snowplow attached had collided with an ATV with two 19-year-old men aboard. The ATV riders were taken to a Springfield hospital with what were described as serious but not life-threatening leg injuries.
The plow driver, 36-year-old Richard Smith, of Worthington, was charged with two counts of operating under the influence — one for alcohol one for drugs. Police did not disclose which drug.
Police say Smith was a private plow contractor. He could not be reached.
