SOUTHWICK – On Tuesday April 25th the community will have an opportunity to learn more about some of the town’s businesses at the 7th Annual Southwick Home and Business Show. The event will take place at Tucker’s Restaurant from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
With more than 25 businesses in Southwick having an exhibit on display, it is a chance for residents to get to know the businesses in town. Of all the businesses attending, there will be two new businesses on display. The New England Disc Golf Center and Southwick Pharmacy are looking to make the public aware that they are now in the community.
“It is at least exposing the public to some of the new businesses in town,” said Michael McMahon, who is the Chairman of the Economic Development Commission and who is organizing the Home and Business Show.
There is a $25 fee for each business if they want to have a display. According to McMahon, a number of exhibits will have drawings for a free gift.
McMahon said that the Economic Development Commission has focused on keeping the event in Southwick.
“One of our focuses is to have the event somewhere in town,” said McMahon.
Having the Home and Business Show in Southwick highlights the businesses.
“The key thing is they’re providing employment, their paying personal property tax to the town on their equipment,” said McMahon. “There’s revenue coming into town by them being here and it provides employment.”
The Economic Development Commission is also getting assistance with this event from the Greater Westfield Chamber of Commerce.
McMahon also noted that there will be hors-d’oeuvres from Tucker’s Restaurant and a cash bar will also be available.
The commission will have a table that will promote other events happening in town including the Art Show taking place on April 28 and 29.
