Air Force Reserve Airman Kisha Rivera graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Rivera is the daughter of Kelly and Abraham Rivera of Westfield. She is a 2012 graduate of Westfield Vocational Technical High School.
Navy Seaman Luis A. Luna, son of Efrain Luna of Westfield , Mass., and Mirna Luna of West Springfield, Mass., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. During the eight-week program, Luna completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness. The capstone event of boot camp is “Battle Stations”. This exercise gives recruits the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the fleet. “Battle Stations” is designed to galvanize the basic warrior attributes of sacrifice, dedication, teamwork and endurance in each recruit through the practical application of basic Navy skills and the core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment. Its distinctly ”Navy” flavor was designed to take into account what it means to be a Sailor. Luna is a 2008 graduate of Westfield Vocational Technical High School, Westfield. Luna is also a 2014 graduate of the University of Hartford, West Hartford, Conn.

Such is the daughter of Kathleen and Thomas Such of Enfield, Conn.; and the granddaughter of Maryann Vella and Stanley Such of Enfield. She earned a diploma in 2009 from Enfield High School and an associate’s degree in 2012 from Lincoln Technical School of Nursing, New Britain, Conn.

Szydlowski is the son of Mark and Joanne Szydlowski of Wilbraham. He earned a diploma in 2009 from Minnechaug Regional High School, Wilbraham, and a bachelor’s degree in 2013 from Westfield State University.
