BOSTON—Senate Minority Leader Bruce E. Tarr (R-Gloucester) today congratulated State Senator Don Humason, Jr. (R-Westfield) for achieving a perfect voting record in 2017. After being sworn in to his third term in the Senate on January 4, 2017, Humason has once again earned a 100% roll call record.

“2017 proved to be a challenging time in the State Senate. I began the session voting against significant legislative pay raises and ended the first half of the session taking an unprecedented vote to name an Acting Senate President. Looking back, I am proud that I maintained my perfect voting record through the ups and downs we experienced,” said Senator Don Humason. “I anticipate another active half of the legislative session in 2018, so I am ready to get to work in the new year and build on the 4-year 100% voting record I’ve sustained during my time in the Senate so far.”

Throughout 2017, the Senate totaled 315 roll call votes on legislative matters related to health care, criminal justice, the Commonwealth’s annual budget, and much more.

“Roll call votes are one of the primary and crucial ways that Senators protect and represent the interests of their constituents and often they involve critical issues where every vote makes a difference. Senator Humason understands that, and his 100% voting record reflects his commitment not only to those he represents, but also to the prosperity and future of our state,” said Senate Minority Leader Bruce Tarr. “I truly appreciate Senator Humason’s efforts to understand the impact of each his votes and his achievement to keep his record of voting perfect.”

Humason is the Senate’s Assistant Minority Leader and currently serves on 10 legislative committees:

  • Joint Committee on Ways and Means
  • Senate Committee on Ways and Means
  • Senate Committee on Rules (Ranking Minority Member)
  • Senate Committee on Bonding, Capital Expenditures and State Assets

  • Joint Committee on Transportation
  • Joint Committee on Veterans and Federal Affairs
  • Joint Committee on Children, Families and Persons with Disabilities
  • Joint Committee on Public Service
  • Senate Committee on Intergovernmental Affairs

Formal legislative sessions concluded on December 4, while informal sessions will be held regularly through the end of the year to continue the business of the Legislature. The Senate will resume full formal sessions in January.
