HUNTINGTON – The Huntington Summer Music Series kicked off Thursday, July 12 with a picnic and the blues by the Misty Blues Band of Williamstown on the town common.
Picnickers enjoyed hamburgers and hotdogs, popcorn, lemonade and Summer Series cakes for a $1 donation, sponsored by the Huntington Community Events Committee for the first concert only.
During intermission, Born for Blues, a high school band from the Berkshire Arts and Technology Charter Public School played a set before the Misty Blues Band returned.
Misty Blue lead singer Gina Coleman introduced the second set by saying it would be the same 35 minute set they planned to perform on Saturday (July 15) at The Linda, WAMC’s Performing Arts Stage in Albany for the NY Blues Challenge, the first step in the International Blues Competition. In 2017, Misty Blues won the challenge and went on to perform in Nashville, which Coleman said they hoped to repeat this year.
This coming Thursday, July 19, 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. the Huntington Summer Music Series will feature Jack Waldheim of Hinsdale, who will perform original songs and cover-tune mashups.
Other upcoming Thursday concerts include: July 26, Moonshine Holler, Folk/Old-Time/Americana, Aug 2, Bruce Mandel, Americana/Folksinger, Aug 9, Terry A La Berry, Children’s Entertainer, Aug 16, 91 South, Hits from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, and Aug 23, Jake Manzi, Singer-Songwriter.
