SOUTHWICK: Irene (Piela) Della Luna, 88, died Monday, November 2, 2015 in Noble Hospital. She was born in Chicopee on January 4, 1927 to the late William and Catryn (Tapaj) Piela. She grew up in Chicopee and was a graduate of Chicopee High School. Irene has lived in Westfield for over 50 years and in Southwick for the past 2 years. She married her husband Luigi in 1948. She worked for Robinson Reminder and Digital Equipment Co. of Westfield, where she retired from. She was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church. She enjoyed quilting, square dancing and traveling. She leaves her husband of 67 years Luigi P. Della Luna and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her siblings, Walter and Joseph Piela, Mary Dudek, Stella Piela, Evelyn Liucci and Emily Lucciere. The funeral for Irene will be held on Friday, November 6th at 11 a.m. from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Firtionadams.com
