Westfield- James F Grimsley, 77, died unexpectedly Saturday May 14, 2016. Born in Gloucester, MA on April 29, 1939, he was the son of the late Jewel and Mary (Collins) Grimsley. He was long time resident of Westfield. James retired after 31 years of Military Service with both the U.S. Coast Guard and the Army National Guard. He was a communicant of St Mary’s Church in Westfield. James was a member of the Elks Club, Moose Club, and the Westfield Sportsman’s Club. He was very active in the Boy Scouts and coached Little League Baseball. James worked at Endicott Johnson Shoe Store, Old Colony Envelope. Studio G, and was store manager at Grossman’s and Serv-U. He loved hunting, fishing, and camping outdoors.
James is survived by his wife Donna M (Crosier) Grimsley of Westfield; 8 sons, James F Jr. of Pittsfield, Kent of West Springfield, Justin of Cheshire, CT, Matthew of Texas, Jason of Chester, VT, Daniel of Chicopee, Kevin of Westfield, and Steven of Westfield; 5 daughters, Sharon of Westfield, Michele of Westfield, Charlene of Texas, Jessica of Clarmont, NH, and Chelsea of Westfield; 18 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
James’ funeral will be held Friday May 20, 2016 at 8:15 am from the Robert E Cusack Funeral Home, 94 Main St (Rt 20), with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in St Mary’s Church, Bartlett St, both in Westfield. Burial with full Military Honors will follow at 11am in MA Veterans Memorial Cemetry, 1390 Main St, Agawam, MA. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4-7pm.
