SOUTHWICK: Joan (Whelan) Apolzer, 95, (1920-2016) wife of the late Stephen R. Apolzer, died at home, February 1, 2016 ; surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Newfoundland, on March 26 1920 and came to the United States in 1940. She married Stephen Apolzer of East Hartford on May 4, 1943. She leaves two daughters, Arline and her husband Wallace Elston of Conway , South Carolina and Dianne Brown of Southwick, MA; 7 grandchidlren, 15 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild. Besides her husband, who died in 1976, she was predeceased by her son in law Thomas Brown in 2014. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM on March 26, 2016 at First Congregational Church, 18 Broad St. Westfield, with the Rev. Elva Merry Pawle officiating. There are no calling hours.
