GRANVILLE: John A. Cosmus, III, 76, (1940-2016) of Granville, passed away Saturday May 21st at his home with his loving family at his side. Born in Hartford, CT to the late John A. “Jack” Cosmus, Jr. and Frances (White) Cosmus, he was a graduate of Cheshire Academy in Cheshire, CT. John attended the Hillyer College School of Engineering and went on to own and operate his business, New England Equipment Repair. Over the years, John enjoyed restoring antique cars and gas engines. He was an avid boater and in his youth he could be found stock car racing, downhill skiing and racing boats. Most importantly, John was a good and honest man. He had great values which he strived to instill in others. He was devoted to his home and loved his family more than anything.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Dena J. (Skanse) Cosmus; his four children, Sharon Goode, John Cosmus, IV, Edwin A. Benton and Rebecca Cosmus and her partner, Diane Beacher; his two brothers, Thomas Cosmus and his wife Kathleen and Richard Cosmus; five grandchildren, Edwin, Nadiya, Naomi, Sasha and Jack and by his brother-in-law, Charlie Cahill. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Hope Louise Cosmus and his sister, Ann Cahill.
