WESTFIELD: John C. Bailey, 81, of Westfield, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2015. He was the husband of the late Carolyn Bailey. Born on April 3, 1933 to the late Clifford R. and Earline (Mann) Bailey, he was a resident of Westfield for over 50 years. John was a tuber operator for the former Uniroyal Company for 24 years. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and attained the rank of Corporal.
John was a quiet, reflective man who was known as easy going by many of his family and friends. He loved animals, especially his cats, and selflessly donated to charities on their behalf. He was a member of the American Rifle Association, and the Westfield Gun Club, and shot pistol competitively. John was also a member of the Scantic Valley Antique Engine Club.
John is survived by his son John Bailey, of CA; a step-daughter Kathleen White, of Burlington Flats, NY; two sisters, Beverly Beachell and her husband James, and Leona Pazasis and her husband Richard, all of Belchertown; one grandchild; four great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. John was predeceased by his first wife Claire Bailey, a son, David Bailey, a daughter, Phyllis Bailey, and a sister, Shirley.
A graveside service will be held at the Massachusetts Veteran’s Cemetery in Agawam at the convenience of the family.
