WESTIFELD: John (Jay) Joseph Fitzgibbon passed away unexpectedly on April 4, 2015 in Rutland, VT. Jay was born in Westfield, Massachusetts on September 21, 1957, son of the late John and Mary (Heisler) Fitzgibbon of Westfield, MA. Jay grew up in Westfield where he graduated from St. Mary’s High School. In high school Jay was on the soccer and basketball teams. Jay worked for 36 years at the former Old Colony Envelope Company where he held many supervisory positions. Jay was an avid sports lover throughout his life and loved playing golf and skiing with his friends and family. Jay loved the beach and working on his tan (especially the good times on Cape Cod) where he was often the first on the beach and one of the last to leave. Jay had recently moved to Vermont and was enjoying life in the North Country. Jay is survived by his son Michael of Pasadena, CA, daughters Meaghan and Molly of Kissimmee, FL; two brothers, Daniel (wife Linda) of Mount Holly, VT, Thomas of Westfield, Ma and sister Mary Kay (Kevin) Tierney, nephews Sean and Kevin of Holyoke, MA; and children’s mother Lori (Edwards) Fitzgibbon of Kissimmee, FL, all of whom love and miss him very much. You will always be in our hearts and prayers. A Roman Catholic graveside service will take place Saturday April 11, 2015 at 10:30 am in St Mary’s Cemetery. Visiting hours are Friday from 5-7 pm at the Robert E Cusack Funeral Home, 94 Main St (Rt 20), both in Westfield.
