SPRINGFIELD – John “Jack” M. Fahey, 66, died Thursday, July 18, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Jack was a chemistry teacher for over 35 years for the Town of Agawam. He was a lifelong resident of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield.
Jack was a graduate of Cathedral High School and received his BA from St. Anselm’s College and his Masters Degree from Worcester Poly Technical. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and served as a collector for many years. Jack was a lifetime member of the Western Mass Baseball Umpires Association. He was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting and the outdoors.
Jack was predeceased by his wife, Cecilia (Stump) Fahey in 2005; his mother, Eileen in 1984 and his father, John in 1988. Jack is survived by his son, Seamus M. Fahey of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; his daughter, Heather M. Fahey of Springfield; 2 brothers, George Fahey and his wife Gayle of Westfield, James “Jim” Fahey and his wife MaryAnn of Southwick; a sister, Mary Magiera and her husband Ken of Springfield, along with 9 nieces, 7 nephews, 5 grand nephews, 3 grand nieces and many in-laws.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday 8:45 a.m. from the Sampson’s Family Chapels, 710 Liberty Street, Springfield followed by a 10:00 a.m. Liturgy of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield. Calling hours will be held Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
