Westfield – John N. Wheeler, 70, passed away on Monday, April 9th surrounded by his family and his beloved wife Frances (Langtange) Wheeler of 45 years. A lifelong resident of Westfield, he was very active in the community. He worked at Western Mass Hospital from 1970 until his retirement in 2010. He was involved in Westfield Little League baseball since 1974 devoting his time to the love of the game as Father, Coach and President. He loved his Boston sports teams, but enjoyed the home field ball games the best, most recently watching his grandsons play on those same fields. He is survived by his son Jason Wheeler and daughter-in-law Kerri of Westfield, his son Brian Wheeler of Westfield, and daughter Kristin Wheeler of Easthampton; his adored grandchildren Jocelyn Scott, Evan and Trevor Wheeler. He also leaves behind his brother George Wheeler and sister-in-law Judy (Beebe) Wheeler of Southwick, his mother-in-law Evelyn Langtange; nieces and nephews; Heidi, Douglas, Stefanie, Michael and Diana as well as many loving extended family members as well as dear friends. Calling hours for John will be held on Friday April 13th from 10 am to 1pm with a funeral service to follow at 1 PM at Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Westfield. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John’s memory to Westfield Little League, PO Box 1066, Westfield, MA 01085
