Joseph F. Dashnaw

WESTFIELD: Joseph Francis Dashnaw, 76 passed away peacefully at home on June 18, 2015, with his loving family by his side. He was born February 11, 1939, in Stockholm, NY to the late Fredrick & Lena (Yaddow) Dashno. He is pre-deceased by his sister, Marie Christian, his brother John Dashnaw & his beloved Son-in-law Ted Gage. He honorably served in the US Army from 1962 to 1966. He was a proud member of the Westfield Lodge of the Elks & the American Legion Post 124. He was employed as a Paving Laborer & Foreman spanning over 35 years working for Lane Construction, Burke Brothers Paving & Galasso Materials, East Granby, CT (formerly known as Roncari Industries) where he retired in 2002.   He leaves his beloved wife of 50 years, Barbara B. (King) Dashnaw, his daughter Lisa D. Gage and her children Madison & Christopher Gage. His son, Scott M. Dashnaw Sr. and his children Scott Jr. & Shawna Dashnaw, whom he adored & cherished. His brother Frederick (Archie) & wife Elizabeth (Bibit), of Nicholville, NY and his sister Lenora Debiew of Springfield, MA along with many nieces, nephews, & cousins. He enjoyed the Red Sox, Camping, Fishing , and winters in Florida with family & friends. He was always happy to lend a helping hand whenever someone needed one. The Dashnaw family would like to extend their love & gratitude to the Noble Hospice team & especially Sharon Beauchemin who took such beautiful & loving care of Joseph & his family in the comfort of their own home. The funeral for Joseph will be held on Wednesday June 24th at 10 am in St. Peter’s, St. Casimir’s Church, 22 State Street, Westfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield from 4-7 pm.
