Joseph P. Marchesi

WflagESTFIELD- Joseph P. Marchesi, 75, died, May 10, 2015 at Noble Hospital in Westfield, MA surrounded by family and friends. He was born February 16, 1940 to Domenico and Maria (Fumiatti) Marchesi. He was predeceased by his sister Josephine Marchesi. Joe graduated from Westfield High School class of 1958 and from Holyoke Community College with an Associates Degree in 1974. In 1958, he enlisted in the Army and served in the military police. After he was discharged he worked for DePalma Motors as a car salesman until he joined the Westfield Police Department in 1967. Joe retired as a Sergeant in 1990. He was respected by his peers and he touched the lives and hearts of many. He was the past president and union steward for the Westfield Police Association. He leaves his brother, Guido and wife Jan of Westfield, Ma, his sister, Martha and husband Robert Cottone of Palm City, FL. He also leaves five nephews and three great nieces, and one great nephew.  He also leaves his special friend Toni McLean. Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 15th from 4-7 PM at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St., Westfield, MA. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 8 AM, at the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, 28 Bartlett St., Westfield at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Joe will be missed by all who knew him. Joe’s family would like to thank Genesis Health Care and the staff at Noble Hospital for the exceptional care they extended on Joe’s behalf.
