WESTFIELD – Joyce Louise (Cehlar) Struthers, 75, died Thursday, May 2, 2013 at home. She was born in Westfield on April 29, 1938 to the late George and Ruth (Palmer) Cehlar. She was a lifelong resident and attended local schools and was a 1956 graduate of Westfield High School.
Joyce worked for Anderson and Sons, Savage Arms, Farm Credit Banks in Agawam, ADVO in Windsor, Ct and for John S. Palczynski Agency. She volunteered during elections at the voting Polls and enjoyed crocheting blankets for Shriners Hospitals for Children and area nursing homes.
She leaves her children, Susan Cousineau and her husband Allen of Westfield and Florida, Jeri-Lyn Lafreniere and her husband Bill of Westfield, Catherine Cousineau of Florida and Michael Struthers and his wife Dana of Colorado. Joyce also leaves her brother, Lynnwood “Joe” Cehlar and his wife Libby of Louisiana and her grandchildren Vincent, Sarah and Adam, her great-grandchildren Tyler, Laila, Ayden and Noah. She leaves her longtime companion Edward Fila of Westfield, she also leaves extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by a grandson Sam Struthers.
The funeral for Joyce will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday at the funeral home from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
