WESTFIELD – Katherine (Zales) Malcovsky, of Westfield passed away peacefully Thursday, September 19, 2013 on a beautiful fall morning surrounded by family. She was born in Westfield, the daughter of the late Simon and Mary (Kudzma) Zales. Katherine was a graduate of Westfield High School and attended Westfield State College. Katherine was employed for many years as a Teachers Aide in the Westfield Schools. She was a life long communicant of the St. Peter’s and St Casmir’s Church. She was a member and president of the Rosary Society for many years and a former Parish Council member. Katherine served as the secretary for the Senior Center travel club, as a member of the Westfield Women’s Garden Club, and as a member of the Slovak Cultural Club. Katherine especially enjoyed baking, quilting, knitting and crocheting, sharing many of her creations with her family and friends and charities.
Katherine’s beloved husband, John passed away in 1987. She leaves her loving family John (Barbara) of Burlington, VT, Joseph (Janice) of Russell, MA, Jerome (Renee) and Kathy (Gene) of Westfield; her sister, Anne Gryszkiewicz of Westfield; and Sister-in-law Sr. Christopher Malcovsky of Phoenix AZ, her most cherished grandchildren, Andrea, Jerry, John, Andrew, Brooke, Emily, Abby and her great grandchildren Abbie, Oliver, Frankie, Mikie, RJ and Max as well as many loved nephews and their extended families.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. from the Cusack Funeral Home in Westfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Peter’s and St. Casmir’s Church. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Monday 4:00-7:00 PM.
