Kelsey Veillette to launch new recording at CD release show

WESTFIELD – Kelsey Veillette of Westfield will celebrate her new recording, “Into the Night,” with a CD release show on Saturday, March 26 at 7 p.m. at Riverside Productions, 77 Mill Street, Suite 15 in Westfield.
Two months in production, “Into the Night” features five songs by the singer-songwriter that display a mellow sound with a rock feel and a lot of emotion.
“I’ve been singing my whole life,” Veillette said, adding that her first time on stage was at age 5. When she started playing guitar at age 14, that’s when she started writing songs. She released her first album, “Infinite Clock,” when she was 16. She said in the past few years, she was in a band as a vocalist, and didn’t pursue her independent, original music.
Now 21, Veillette is ready to get back out there on her own and play.
“I hope this is my entry back into the music world,” she said. “This EP definitely has a whole different style and feel to it.”
The songs reflect her recent journey and a lot of changes that took place over a short period of time.
“The past few months, music has been pouring out of me,” Veillette said.
In fact, she wrote two of the songs after she started recording.
Riverside Productions studio musicians Kenny Lynch on bass and guitar, and Mike Santinello on drums also put their own twist on the music arrangements, and will be joining Veillette at the show along with bassist Jeff Fortier. Lexi Weege wil also be adding back-up vocals and harmonies to the recording.
During the day, Veillette is a receptionist at The Arbours at Westfield Assisted Living.
“I absolutely love it there,” Veillette said. “It’s nice to have a job that I love and also be able to pursue music, which will hopefully, eventually turn into a stable career.”
There will be a $15 cover charge for the show which includes a copy of “Into the Night,” and “a lot of food” catered by Richards Grinder. “Riverside Productions has become a breeding ground for local bands,” said musician owner Mike Freedman, who turned his rehearsal space there into a recording studio 1 1-2 years ago.
Some of the local bands currently with Riverside Productions are Polar Planet, City of Homes and Cold Shot.
“If you want to get in tune with the local music scene, come to the show,” Freedman said.
