Kenneth R. Larkin, 75, of Southwick, MA loving husband of Sheila (Ploof) Larkin passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA surrounded by his loving family. Kenneth was born May 11, 1943, in Worcester, MA the son of the late Thomas and Wanda (Gabis) Larkin. Ken was the owner and operator of “The Bookstore” in Westgate Plaza Westfield, MA and later operated a MAC Tool Business. Ken was a proud member of the Southwick Lions Club for over 27 years. He served as past Governor of Massachusetts District 33Y, former board member of the Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund, past President of Southwick Lions Club, and was the Co-Chairman of District 33Y Emergency Sight and Hearing Aid Fund. Ken was honored by the Southwick Lions as a Melvin Jones Fellow for his exemplary service to the club and the community. Ken also served as a member of the Southwick Volunteer Fire Department and E.M.T retiring after 25 years as Lieutenant . He also served as a past Commissioner of the Southwick Cemetery. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and the Boston Red Sox. In addition to his wife, Sheila to whom he was married 54 years he is also survived by two children, Anita Larkin and Thomas Larkin; a beloved granddaughter Rachel Larkin all of Southwick, MA; three sisters, Geraldine Peters of Tolland, MA, Susan Loomis and her husband, Bob of Westfield, MA, and Veronica Tenerowicz of Suffield, CT. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Wednesday, August, 1, 2018, from 4 pm to 7pm at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield, CT 06082. A funeral service celebrating Ken’s life will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Southwick Cemetery.
