WESTFIELD – Lawrence Stephen Tkaczek, 80, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 21st, surrounded by his family at Noble Hospital. Born in Westfield, MA on November 21st, 1942. He is the son of the late Joseph Tkaczek and Agnes (Lis). He graduated from Westfield High School in 1960. He entered the Navy in 1963 and served during the Vietnam war on the USS Coral Sea. He was awarded 4 metals (Armed Forces Expeditionary Metal, Vietnam National Defense Service Metal, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon (Bronze Star), and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Metal). In the Navy, his nickname was TK. He was also the owner of Little River Clocks store on Meadow Street in Westfield. Every year for many years he fixed, made and sold his clocks at the Big E in West Springfield. Larry was a member of the Gideon’s International. He was also a member of Huntington Evangelical Church where he taught Sunday school, sang in the church choir, and played the church organ every Sunday for years.
He leaves his wife Connie Tkaczek of Westfield, MA, his sister Irene Duggan of West Springfield, MA, his two nephews Sean Duggan and Robert Duggan, and his niece Karen Dufraine, his two daughters Tina Tkaczek of Feeding Hills, MA and Tammy Tkaczek of Springfield, MA, as well as four grandchildren: Travis Tkaczek, Justin Tkaczek, Jocelynn Schmuck and Joann Schmuck.
Lawrence was predeceased by his first wife Sandra Jane Tkaczek and his son Stanley David Tkaczek.
A private Funeral will be held at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA on March 24th at 2pm.
A Memorial Service and reception will take place at the Huntington Evangelical Church on March 25th at 1pm. Donations appreciated if you would like in his name to the Charity of your choice.
