Letter: Hoose’s musings

To the Editor,

Hi folks, starting with the positive:  You know how aggravating it is when you write or E-mail to a company, or an agency, never to hear from them back?  Well, this time, while something simple and on just me I want to appreciate a positive.  This past week I was losing sound for channel 22, and Western Mass News.  I got the sound for others, and occasional sound from them.  I thought II would be a good guy and let them know just in case that the problem was at their studio, or their distributor.  I was pleased that I got a quick response from Western Mass News’ Gary Rivest.  In fact a few times as we worked this through, it turned out on Gary’s advice from my T.V.’s settings.  Thus, no big deal, except he returned my email!  So I want to give Gary Rivest and Western Mass. News a shout out for really being customer caring.  Nothing from 22; just thought I would mention that too.

Next, in reading the paper I see Patrick Berry and Jay Pagluica are stepping up to get some positive for Westfield with their Gas Light Entertainment. Thanks guys; a reason to stay and do stuff in Westfield.  And, attract others to come to Westfield.

More next…YES!  WTA’s Tiger Pride is open again…Wed, and Thursdays, and on some Friday’s until Jan. when they will be open on most Fridays, as well.   The Buffet is back…and me too on Wed., and Fridays as a VIPS’ greeter.  Come for the food…and to chat or argue with me….but be nice to the staff, and especially the students who do a fantastic food prep job.

Another, last next…I also read in the paper about a local rail service: the Pioneer Valley Rail Road.  I had brought this up when I was on the Council, and have heard nothing from the Council about helping to get this going.  With our Spring time sight seers, Fall leaf peepers, Winter snow sportsters, our Summer vacationers and cultural tourists, and those attracted by MGM; about time someone has opted on this.  This is fantastic. Too bad there are too many who do not want the additional revenue coming to Westfield.  If we got the old train stations re-activated, and got a few tourist sites as: a Columbia Museum and store featuring past and present models, (in an era of bike rider enthusiasts), and likewise for Savage Arms, along with the Whip Museum…we could generate some REVENUE for all the other things that we very much need.  See you at Tiger Pride…

This time sunshine, next time back to the fire…

Brian Hoose
