Letter to the Editor: Onyski responds to land clearing letter

To the Editor,

This morning I had the opportunity to read an on-line letter to the editor regarding land clearing on East Mountain Road/Susan Drive.
I am not all at surprised, but still disappointed, that my opponent would choose to politicize such an issue that involves conservation, wildlife, and stormwater on East Mountain Road. However, as Ward 6 City Councilor, I determined it was the best course of action to be effective working for a solution rather than taking shots at someone who had a family commitment the night of the Conservation meeting.
I will continue to provide updates as to what the city, with my full involvement, is doing to legally resolve the land clearing. I’ll continue to speak with and email residents with the latest plans as they become available.
Letters to the editor don’t have to contain facts, as proven by my opponent’s letter. He may want to speak with the Ward 6 resident who went out of his way to meet me at a recent stand out to thank me for all of the work I was doing on this issue. Or perhaps he should speak to the Ward 6 resident that thanked me while I was eating dinner at a local establishment this weekend.
This Ward 6 Councilor chooses to concentrate his efforts on finding a solution to the land clearing, rather than politicizing such an important issue.
Respectfully,
William Onyski
Ward 6 City Councilor
