Lillian Gluck

Glock Lillian (2)SOUTHWICK – Lillian (Rodriguez) Gluck, 84, of Southwick died August 10, 2013. She was born in Westfield on December 9, 1928 to Isaac and Abelina (Palazuelos) Rodriguez who emigrated to the U.S. from the Basque region of Spain.
Lillian graduated from Westfield High School in 1946 with honors. She moved to Southampton in 1970 where she owned and operated The Red Basket tavern and banquet facility with her late husband Chester Gluck. Lillie and Chet vacationed in the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Europe, South America, Mexico, Hong Kong, and most memorably in Marrakesh Morocco where she met and dined with Beatle Paul McCartney and his family. Lillie also accompanied Chet on several hunting and fishing trips in Canada including some remote locations accessible only by seaplane. Although Lillie liked to discuss her encounters with Eskimos, she did not like to discuss her encounters with a curious bear and a charging 1500 pound moose which Chet brought down with one shot while she laid under a log for safety. With her sharp wit, keen intellect, and generous heart, Lillie was loved by all.
She leaves her son, Richard J. Paroline; daughter, Susan M. Mavis; sisters, Helen Gardikis and Abelina Schonheiter and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings, Antonio Rodriguez, Henry Rodriguez, John Rodriguez, Flora Reardon, Jeannette Cavanaugh, Rose Gedmin, and her first husband Richard G. Paroline.
Lillie is resting in Center Cemetery in Southampton. Calling hours are omitted.
Donations in Lillie’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or http://www.stjude.org.
