MONTGOMERY – Linda Stipek-LaFond of Montgomery passed away on August 7 at her lake side home in Becket surrounded by loved ones. Linda, an avid quilter and stitcher, was well known for her fine craftsmanship and design. She belonged to several local quilt guilds. She attended the Museum School of Fine Arts in Boston, MA where she worked in the classical arts mediums.
She was married to Kenneth F. Stipek of Westfield, MA for 33 years and settled in Montgomery where they built a home and raised a family, till he passed in 2002. During those years she enjoyed many friendships in Montgomery. Her passion for quilting grew and she found an outlet to express her creative nature and sense of design. Her talent was well known in the quilting community and recognized by many.
They had four children Bruce Stipek (Huntington), Jill Kyle (Auburn, NH), Paula Long (Montgomery) and Robin Knowlton (Huntington)
She was blessed to have fallen in love again with “Sonny” Rodney LaFond of Huntington in their later years. They were married in Montgomery on June 12th, 2010. The couple enjoyed traveling around the world until she fell ill this past Spring. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Sonny, her brother Paul Barcelo of Franklin, MA and his family as well as Linda’s four children and 5 grandchildren. Bruce and Tanya Stipek, Jill and Kenneth Kyle and grandson Ian Kyle, Paula and Dwayne Long and granddaughters Hannah and Bridget Long, Robin and Charles Knowlton with grandchildren Samantha and Nate Knowlton.
Calling hours and services will be at the O’Brien Hilltown Community Funeral home on Saturday August 13. Calling Hours from 12 pm to 2 pm and with a service to follow. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Hilltown Ambulance Service or Becket Ambulance Service.
