Melissa Sheil Spends Spring Break Working at Habitat for Humanity Housing Site
PROVIDENCE – Melissa Sheil, a resident of Southwick and a member of the class of 2016 at Providence College, recently spent a week working with Habitat for Humanity as part of the College’s Alternative Spring Break 2013 program. Sheil was among more than 230 Providence College students who volunteered to spend their spring break working at Habitat home sites in 16 locations in the United States. They participated through the Habitat campus chapter at Providence College, which is sponsored by the chaplain’s office. Sheil worked on a home project in Georgetown, DE.
Westfield Resident Thomas Hoctor Named a Charles O. Thompson Scholar
WORCESTER – Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) has announced that Thomas Hoctor, of Westfield,a first-year student majoring in chemical engineering, has been named a Charles O. Thompson Scholar for the 2012-2013 academic year. Named in honor of the first president of WPI, this honor recognizes outstanding performance by first-year students. To be eligible for membership, students must receive all A’s and B’s (with a minimum of six A’s) in their academic subjects during their first three terms at WPI.
