Lorraine A. DiSessa

WESTFIELD: Disessa,Lorraine1Lorraine A. DiSessa, 97, (1918-2016), passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 24, 2016, at the home of Louis and Suzanne DiSessa. Born in Boston on December 31, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Thaddeus and Marie Alice (Landry) Breau. Lorraine grew up in East Boston, where she met Peter DiSessa. They married on September 5, 1938, in a double wedding ceremony in which Lorraine’s brother Robert married Peter’s sister Lillian. The couples remained close throughout their lives. Peter and Lorraine were married for 67 years until his death in 2006. After raising her family, Lorraine worked at Western Mass Hospital and the Holyoke Soldiers’ Home. Lorraine was a communicant of the Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Westfield. Above all, Lorraine dearly loved and cared for her family. She was an excellent cook, and read cookbooks as if they were novels. Lorraine had an ardent interest in food and sought out new and varied food experiences. She loved to travel, especially throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.   Lorraine leaves two sons; Louis DiSessa and his wife Suzanne, and David and his wife Kim, of Westfield, and two daughters; Lorraine Land of Alameda, CA, and Marilyn DiSessa of Westfield. In addition, she leaves five grandchildren; Lauren, Nathan, and Meredith DiSessa, Tim Fedora and his wife Jessica, and Jillian Fedora. She also leaves one great-grandson, TJ Fedora. Lorraine was predeceased by her husband, Peter E. DiSessa, her son, Peter E. DiSessa Jr., and her infant grandson, Peter M. DiSessa.   Lorraine’s family would like to thank Baystate Visiting Nurse and Hospice and Integra Home Health for their invaluable care and support during Lorraine’s last days. Services for Lorraine will take place on Thursday , January 28 , 2016, at 11 am from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad St., Westfield, MA, with a mass of Christian Burial at 12 pm at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.
