Southampton – Lorraine R. Thomas, 94, passed away on December 15, 2018 at Linda Manor in Northampton, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 17, 1924, she was the daughter of Armond and Leona (LaValley) LaCroix. She lived in Westfield and was a graduate of Westfield High School in 1942. She married William J. (Walter) Thomas on March 2, 1946 at our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Westfield. She moved to Southampton in 1952, where she and her husband raised their family. Lorraine was Town Treasurer and Collector in Southampton for 24 years and retired in 1993. She was a member of the Southampton Women’s Club, the former Southampton Mother’s Club, the Historical Society, and the Massachusetts Collectors and Treasurers Association. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Westfield and was a member of the Schoensttat Movement and the Cursillo Movement. She was the widow of William J. Thomas who died in December of 1995, two months before they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. She leaves a daughter Kathy O’Neill and her husband Michael of Chesterfield, six grandchildren, Jason Camp, Brenda Emerson-Camp, Adam Camp, Sarah Williams, Lora Thomas, Joshua Faivre and her fifteen great grandchildren all of whom were the love of her life. She was predeceased by her daughter Susan Faivre in 1996, her son Stephen Thomas in 2012, and her son David Thomas in 2018. She was also predeceased by her sister Jean Heath, and her brothers Henry, Armond Jr. and Kenneth LaCroix. Lorraine considered herself blessed to be part of a large family with French Canadian roots. From organizing family reunions, or helping a family member in need, to remembering every birthday and anniversary, she was without equal. She was never happier than when she could host a houseful of friends and family. She was in all ways a warm, caring and generous woman. A calling hour will be held on Saturday, December 22 from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at Boucher-O’Brien Funeral Home, 7 Pleasant Street, Easthampton. Her funeral mass will follow at 11:00 at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Westfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, 127 Holyoke Road in Westfield.
