WESTFIELD – Louis John Scarfo, 92, of Westfield, passed away peacefully, in his home on January 25th, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Louis was born on 
December 11th, 1931, son of late John Scarfo and Frances (Torrisi) Scarfo.
Louis graduated from West Springfield High School and married his soulmate Irene Scarfo on June 16th, 1956. Together they raised four daughters all the while building a successful construction company from the ground up. Over the years he made an impact on his community through the countless subdivisions he built, which he named streets after every person in our family. His latest endeavor being Liberty Manor in Westfield. Louis was a Korean War veteran, where he played two years of football for the U. S. Navy. He was a first-generation college graduate from AIC, where he also played football for four years and then played semi-pro for two more years. Louis was most proud of his beautiful wife Irene and his four daughters, who he called his “queens”. Those who knew him enjoyed his quick wit, his one-liners, and sense of humor. His door was always open for food, drinks and great stories.
Louis is survived by his four daughters, with whom he held the tightest bond: Marie Masciadrelli and her husband David, Susan Hoey and her husband Stephen (predeceased), Linda Szalankiewicz and her husband Kevin, Joann Caveny and her partner Mark; his cherished grandchildren: Stephanie Harris and partner Matt Boulanger, Kristen Allard (predeceased), Lisa Kozik and husband TJ, Tina Mangan and husband Pete, Michael and Rachel Szalankiewicz, Devon and Sean Caveney, and eight cherished great-grandchildren: Jack and Lyla Harris, Mya and Mason Kozik, Cameron and Cole Allard, Madison and Michaela Mangan. He was also a loving brother to his late siblings: Dominic Artuso, Sadie Verani, Sam and Joe Scarfo, and Pauline Barker. He also leaves behind Charlie Pignatare who was like a son to him and his wife Marla, Roy Cavallon (brother-in-law) and his wife Joyce (predeceased), and Roland Boissonault (brother-in-law), as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Louis was the patriarch, the rock, the heart and soul of his family; and for all that knew him – “Kapeak Kapork.”
Calling hours for Louis will be held on Wednesday, January 31st, 2024 at Firtion-Adams Funeral home, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, from 11-12:30 p.m. There will be a service following at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Saint Thomas Cemetery in West Springfield. www.firtionadams.com
