Westfield – Lucille (Benoit) Gintowt, 92, died on Friday, February 9, 2018 after a short illness. She was born in Chicopee Falls on December 5, 1925 to the late Joseph D. and Victorine (Lebrecque) Benoit. Lucille grew up in Westfield and attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and was a 1943 graduate of St. Mary’s High School.Lucille worked at several local businesses throughout her working years; Stanley Home Products, Woronoco Bank, Heritage Bank and finally retiring from O’Connor Lumber in 1988. Lucille was a member of the Westfield Woman’s Club and was a member of The Do Re Mi Singers at the Westfield Senior Center. She enjoyed singing, knitting and shopping and all the activities at Armbrook Village. She was a parishioner at both St. Mary’s Church where she sang in the choir and Holy Trinity Church where she was a member of the Rosary Society.Lucille was pre-deceased by her husband Cmdr. Charles C. in 2011. She leaves her daughter Pamela Gintowt of Westfield and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her sisters Rita B. Halla, Jacqueline B. Plaice and her brother Gerald J. Benoit.The funeral service for Lucille will be held on Saturday February 17th at 12:30 pm at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 11 am till 12:30 pm Saturday morning.In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lucille may be made to the St. Mary’s ChurchAdvancement Fund, 86 Mechanic Street, Westfield, MA 01085.
