WESTFIELD – A city man, who allegedly sold heroin to a Westfield High School junior who died from an overdose has had all his charges moved to Hampden Superior Court.
Lombard-Hawthorne, 22, was arrested shortly after 5:30 p.m. February 6 by Westfield Police Department and Massachusetts State Police assigned to Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni’s Office on charges of distribution of Class A drug and possession of Class A drug just hours after Westfield High School 11th grader Lillian (Lily) Anderson, 16, was found dead from a suspected heroin overdose.
These drug charges were dismissed in Westfield District Court on April 15 after he was indicted and arraigned in Superior Court.
On April 11, Lombard-Hawthorne was also arraigned in Hampden Superior Court on an additional charge of involuntary manslaughter.
Westfield Police logs show a medical emergency call was received at 10:09 a.m. Saturday morning when Anderson was found unconscious and not breathing.
Later that day, when police searched the defendant’s vehicle, three heroin packets labeled “American Gangster” were found in the vehicle’s ash tray. Heroin packets labeled “Gucci” and “American Gangster” were found near Anderson’s body, he said.
He is due back in Superior Court on May 11.
Anderson’s mother, Sara Nueva, shared a lengthy post on Facebook last month thanking the community for donations made via gofundme. More than $8,000 was raised, well surpassing the $5,000 goal.
Some of the money went towards Anderson’s funeral expenses, but various donations were also made to honor her daughter. She asked The Westfield News to share her post with its readers.

“In our religion, we are called upon by the Lord to honor the soul of our loved ones who have passed on with good works in this world. With the support of all those who donated in Lily’s memory, we are blessed to make wonderful things happen for our community.
“We have made a $500 donation to the Westfield Homeless Cat Project, where Lily had volunteered and for which she raised money at her religious school, and from where we adopted one of our wonderful kitties . . .”
“We have also made a $200 donation to the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Western Massachusetts, my former workplace and where Lily and her younger sister Gabbi volunteered for the past several years . . .”
“In Lily’s sister’s honor, we made a $500 donation to the sewing department at Westfield High School to purchase new irons and ironing board covers, as well as fabrics and notions for the dedicated sewing students.
“In honor of Lily’s love of the fine arts and in support of the many incredibly talented students at Westfield High School, we have purchased a new photographic enlarger and three color photographic printers for the photography studio at the high school. . . .”
“We cannot thank everyone enough for expressing their love both for our daughter and for the children of Westfield.”
