WESTFIELD – City Advancement Officer Jeff Daley is hoping to teach residents about businesses they never knew existed in Westfield.
Daley hosts a new cable television show called “Working in Westfield” that offers a unique inside view of some of the city’s sometimes hidden gems.
The 60-minute program includes two segments.
“The first half is a roundtable, where I talk with management,” said Daley, “And the second half, which airs the following month, includes product highlights from inside the business.”
Daley said the show runs on The Westfield Community Programming Channel 15 and was something he wanted to do to show residents what Westfield businesses have to offer. In some cases, Daley said people do not know the businesses exist, and in other cases, Daley will give viewers a peek inside businesses to show they do inside their building.
“This is more about information than marketing,” said Daley.
The first episode aired last night and will air again tonight at 9:30 p.m., and Sunday at 3:30 p.m., and focuses on McNairn Packaging.
Daley said McNairn products are used locally and beyond.
“When you buy meats at the Butcher Block, the white butcher paper it comes in is from McNairn,” said Daley. “And the red and white checked paper used at TGI Fridays is from McNairn.”
Daley said Westfield boasts ” a lot of companies that employ a lot of people” and he wants residents to know more about them.
Mayor Daniel Knapik also hosts a channel 15 show called “Westfield, It’s Your City.”
That program is a 30-minute monthly show that features an update on city business from the mayor, and two segments highlighting small businesses and downtown merchants.
“He focuses a lot on downtown retailers and what they do,” said Daley.
“Westfield, It’s your City” for March features Vivid Hair Salon and Paddy’s Irish Pub and airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m., Thursdays at 10 a.m. and 10 p.m., and Sundays at 4 p.m.
Daley said anyone who would like their business featured in either program should contact the Community Development Office at 572-6244.
